On Feb 23, 2009 I entered a Shakespearean competition at Roosevelt University. I was sooo scared when I first got there, and I thought I was totally going to pass out on stage. I'd never performed alone on stage before and I was completely terrified. They had us pick out numbers and I was going to be the 12th person to perform. As the performances began I stated shaking a lot, and tapping my foot (which is a habit of mine) but then little by little I started to calm down and eventually when they called my name I wasn't as nervous as I thought I was going to be. I felt an immediate rush of excitement, and that's what got me through my performance. As I was getting off the stage I looked at peoples faces, and it seemed they were impressed so I gained confidence. After everyone had gone they told us that they would post the nine finalist after lunch. I sat with my mom, Ms. Mooney, Ms. Diaz, and Francisco Lara at lunch, and we had a fun time discussing what had gone on that morning. After lunch I went to check, and my name was up on the finalist list! I was so happy but I knew it wasn't over yet. The second time around the competition was going to be a lot tougher. Only the strongest performers remained, and I got a little nervous again. This time however, I was also a lot more confident. I was the 6th person to go, and I gave it all I had. In the end I didn't win a place but I was still very proud of myself. I had achieved something that many people my age wouldn't have even had the guts to try. I told myself that this would only be one of the many times I would be going on stage to perform :)

Your a good exaple of not giving up on what you like to do even if you were really nervous. You should keep doing it so you can get more confudents in yourself to be one of the best. I think if people want to do something they like, they should because they would never know how good they could become untill they try there best like you did =)
